I got ghosted (and I’m glad)

A client got in touch with me recently after months without contact.

Life had gotten overwhelming, they said, and they hadn’t had the space to take care of themselves and work with me.

"Way to go!” I replied.

“I'm so glad you listened to yourself and prioritized making space to take care of yourself."

The reality is that we live in a hustle culture that says the best way to handle a challenge is to grind through it.

I friggin’ hate this message and any other suggestion that you should grind your way to productivity regardless of how you feel.

Sure, grinding can be effective in the short term...

But over time it WILL cause stress, burnout, and overwhelm...

And undo any progress you make.

Because you’re not a machine whose only purpose is to maximize productivity.

You’re a human being who deserves so much more in your life, like rest, joy, and understanding.

You can’t “grind” your way to those things.

Did you notice how I’ve been relatively quiet these last two weeks?

It’s because I was on vacation with my family, and I valued my rest more than my productivity.

If you want to prioritize your own long-term well-being (and the health of your relationship), I suggest checking in with yourself often.

If you need space, give yourself space.

And if you need something else, do your best to give that to yourself too.

You deserve it.
