Why most relationship advice doesn’t work
I could chuck relationship advice at you all day, but you already know what you’re supposed to do: communicate with your partner, be kind and patient with each other, and work together to solve problems.
But if relationships are that simple, why do they feel so hard sometimes? Like you’re always one slip up away from everything going off the rails?
The truth is that most relationship advice is too broad to be useful.
Advice helps when it’s specific and tailored to your situation and needs.
That’s why personal trainers exist – you tell them your fitness goal and they create a plan to get you there.
That’s also how my relationship coaching works (without as much sweating).
My client Ninfa wanted her husband to get a job, but she didn’t know how to talk to him without making him feel attacked, and she was losing hope that she would ever feel loved and supported in her relationship.
Ninfa already knew that she and her husband needed to talk more and work together – but she didn’t know how to be honest about what she wanted and still be respectful of her husband’s feelings.
And so I taught Ninfa how to talk honestly with her husband in a way that he could listen and trust her, and they could finally start working together after years of feeling like they were on their own.
Later she told me: “After working with you, my relationship is at a whole different level. We’re finally getting to the root causes of everything and it’s made all the difference in the world. There’s more joy and happiness in me. I feel more loved.”
That’s what happens when you get help tailored to your relationship.
I try to offer actionable advice through this newsletter, but the real magic happens when I work with you one on one, like I did with Ninfa.
And for a limited time I’m offering free 1 on 1 breakthrough sessions.
These sessions are for you if your relationship is filling up with tension and distance and you want to learn how to ditch all of that and replace it with more love, closeness, and support.
Slots are filling up, so please reply ASAP, or click here to book a session. And please forward this to anyone else who you think it might serve.
