My birthday epiphany
Today is my birthday.
This morning I played tennis, and then went to a cafe with my family. My three-year-old daughter surprised me with a clay disc made with some of her favorite rocks.
I know they’re just regular rocks, possibly taken from a Starbucks parking lot (she’s done it before), but I cried as soon as I saw them.
My daughter LOVES rocks. She loves putting them in buckets and organizing them by color and size.
For her to put these things that she loves so much into a gift for me…. I felt deeply cared for.
Afterward, Sunaina asked if I wanted to go to a comic book shop, or go watch a movie.
I was tempted, but I decided to pull out my laptop and write this email instead.
Crazy, right?
Why would I give up a fun day of doing anything I wanted to write an email?!?
But writing these emails IS fun for me.
That’s been my birthday epiphany: Without realizing it, I’ve reshaped my life to prioritize the three things I care most about – my family, my health, and my business of helping people.
I even made time for all three on my birthday!
And I believe that’s why I feel more at ease, more fulfilled, and more energized than I can ever remember.
Even at my ripe age of 41 🙂
I’m curious, what are you shaping your life around? And how does that feel?
I really want to know.
